Each item of the collection is unique and carries the philosophy, that Borarti represents: the respect, love and simplicity of nature
Weaving is one of the oldest craft techniques that was a job for women to do. Yarns were used to make woven fabrics and home textiles. The basics of this technique are easy to master because the basics are easy to learn and success is ensured. The monotonous activity calms you down, puts you in a meditative state, you will be able to concentrate and pay attention inwards.
Naturally dyed yarn wool . Perfect for any fingering weight knitting, crochet or weaving.
Our yarns are hand dyed individually or in small bathes. They are all unique and may have small variations from skein to skein.
I recommended hand washing in cool water and drying flat to best care for your finished items.
This yarn is botanicaly dyed and gently washed. However, some colour bleeding may still occur for the first few washes.
Wool yarns from JJ Woolery
All the yarns in the packages are 100% hand made and naturally produced. After the shearing of the Suffolk sheep we have to remove the dirt and vegetation.
The next step after the sorting is the scouring. Depending on the contamination 2-5 bath can be necessary. Washing-soda and rainwater is used during the washing.
After drying we use the picker to make the wool loose and then card it with the drum carder to get extra fine fleece. What we get this way is called batt - a piece of material ready for spinning.
For this process we use a spinning wheel. Plants are used for dyeing marineted yarns - plants of the forest, of the fields and a natural dye garden.
